Planting of beans is an opportunity not to miss during this month

Planting of beans - AWRAQ Community Leaves

In the month of October of each year, most farmers and agricultural lovers prepare for a new season of planting, and one of the most important things grown during this month is the bean plant, which is one of the easy crops with satisfactory results, in addition to the important nutritional benefits of beans for health, as it contains elements High-value food, such as, proteins, carbohydrates, fiber, magnesium, copper, potassium, zinc, iron, calcium, sodium, fats, etc., in addition to vitamins such as vitamins (A, C, E, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6).

Beans planting is easier than you think

Therefore, I will talk today about my successful experience in planting of beans, which is relatively easy, and here are the following steps to do the cultivation of beans well:

First: buy the a good beans seeds

In order for the season to succeed and to harvest a large amount of bean pods, it is necessary to choose large and healthy beans, because the healthier the beans, the better the result. What you need to do after selecting the beans is to soak them in water for 24 to 48 hours before planting.

Second: preparing the soil

Whether you own a small plot of land, a garden for the house, or even basins on the roof or balcony, you must prepare the soil by turning the dirt and removing large and medium stones if any, and determining the planting area by laying stones around the place designated for cultivation. If you have a good amount of compost, you can add it to the soil and mix it with it.

Third: planting beans

The beans are planted in small pits about 3-5 cm deep, and they are buried with dirt and a little natural fertilizer or NPK. It is taken into account that the soil under and around the seed is free of medium and large stones, and it is preferable that it be completely smooth. A distance of 20-30 cm separates between each grain (the distance can be reduced if the place is narrow) in order to distribute food fairly among the bean seedlings, in addition to ensuring ventilation and exposure to sunlight, and the distances facilitate the harvesting process.

Fourth: Irrigation and watering

After planting, the soil is well watered for the first time, and then the watering becomes periodic whenever the soil dries up, and after about one week the beans begin to split the soil and sprinkle out, and a small stalk will come out of it. It will be a seedling after a short time, God willing.

And when the rainy season begins in the winter in about November, you can cut off irrigation for bean seedlings, except if the rains are low, and then return to watering with the onset of spring in March, gradually as the heat gets worse, the greater the irrigation and so on. ..

Fifthly: the harvest

At the end of February, the seedlings begin to bloom and the flowers will be white, which will become small bean pods in the month of March, God willing, after pollination, which the bees will clearly contribute to. When the bean pods mature at the end of April and throughout the month of May, then we start to harvest the crop and it will be by picking the pods only while leaving the seedlings, because the bean pods will vary in growth, some of them will grow early and some will be delayed in growth, and God willing it will Each seedling bears about 10 pods or more. By June, we can harvest the rest of the crop while removing the seedlings that are already wilting.

Notes and Tips:

Reduce the watering a little during the flowering stage, and when the fruits are set, you can return to the good watering. Because excess water during the flowering phase may lead to flower drop.

- Do not spray water directly on the seedlings during watering. Rather, water from the bottom by placing the hose on the ground. Because the extra moisture of the leaves and pods attracts delicate insects (black aphids) and flies.

- If black aphids appear, spray the affected seedling with appropriate insecticides, and at least water and soap, and do not delay with that, because delay will mean that the aphids will move to another seedling, and the aphids will weaken the seedling significantly.

- Removing weeds from the roots that will grow between seedlings, because they will take a certain amount of food and water.

- Do not dispose of wilted seedlings after harvest, which will reach about 75 cm in length. Rather, you can break them up and mix with soil or add them to the compost plate if you are the one who is making it. Because seedlings contain nitrogen, which is beneficial to the soil.

Based on my experience in growing beans for several years, I advise you to experiment with growing it even in a container on the roof or balcony, because eating from what the hand sows has another taste, in addition to the pleasure of watching the stages of growth and the growth of fruits when ripe, and the involvement of children in planting it will enhance Their self-confidence, because most of the beans will not disappoint and will grow and turn into saplings bearing the fruits of the beans, God willing, which will certainly delight children.
