None of the Internet users and social media pages are aware of the extent of lying and fraud in the internet world that we have reached today, but do we always have the ability to identify the news If true or false?

Tools and targets of the fake news

The spread of false news and unrealistic events may sometimes be the result of an error in conveying the news, or an accumulated exaggeration (spices) from one person to another that led to a change in the shape of the whole story.

But the painful reality indicates that most of the false news spread on the Internet is the result of an intentional and innocent act. Rather, publishing false news has become a profession that is practiced by people of sick and corrupt hearts, with the aim of gaining fame or money or even just entertainment, ridicule, defamation of others and spreading chaos ..

What are the tools for spreading fake news online:

Video: such as using old video for a new event, for example, or modifying the real video, such as adding effects (effects) such as foreign objects or lights. The rapid technical development of video programs helps in mastering the act of disinformation to a great extent, which has made the task of detecting fake videos sometimes difficult.

Pictures: It has become a relatively easy thing for any Photoshop designer (or many other computer programs and mobile applications) to modify images and turn them upside down, such as putting people's faces on other people's bodies.

Writing pamphlets: It is sufficient to write a news or information or an incident and assign it to the name of a scientist, political doctor, actor, or athlete ...) and sometimes those names are fake! ..

Audio (audio): such as adding sounds to video clips that are not of the real video, which changes the essence of the video or distorts its course. Also, these technologies have become relatively easy with the increase in applications and programs that can add sounds and play with them more easily than before.

What are the goals of the online lying industry?

It is self-evident that every action has a goal, and spreading false news has many goals and objectives, and we mention them.

Make money and profit from the Internet illegally:

Working on the Internet has become a widespread profession in the world, and as is the case in the real world, there are honest businesses and projects that generate halal profit, and others that are based on lying and fraud and thus generating forbidden profit. Likewise, in the virtual world over the Internet there are entities, companies and people who profess lying as a means of profit and gain. Money, whether through commercializing poorly made products, selling services, applications, and games, or increasing the number of followers and subscribers to YouTube channels and Instagram pages, in illegal ways, for example.

Political goals:

Politicians rely on social media pages a lot these days, whether to improve their images in front of their supporters, or to distort the images of their opponents and opponents, and the US elections between Joe Biden and Donald Trump were fertile ground for such false news last month.

Distortion of religions and beliefs:

Some intellectual institutions resort to attacking religions by fabricating lies, questioning their teachings and their sources, and distorting the reputation and credibility of their men..and they rely on this on fabricated information and mix true and incorrect information to raise surprise and strangeness. ..

Fundraising and theft:

The Internet facilitates collecting donations for patients and the needy through organizations, NGOs, and proactive people, and this is a good thing, but unfortunately, swindlers are everywhere, and of course the Internet makes it easier for them to work and make money, so they collect donations by fabricating false images and events to plead with people and earn their money. There are even reliable global online fundraising sites that have fallen victim to fraudsters' fraud many times.

Gaining fame:

Many people dream of gaining fame among people through social media pages, so they resort unfortunately to promoting false news such as sports, health, climate, rumors of laws and their implementation dates, predictions for the future, as is happening and still is about the news of the Corona pandemic (Covid-19) and the race Issuing vaccines.

Sports statements and rumors:

It aims to negatively affect opponents, frustrate their morale and distract them before the start of the competitions and matches, or are aimed only at influencing and confusing the opposing team's star, which will negatively affect the team and the fans.

Entertainment and mockery:

One of the worst forms of spreading false news over the Internet, as some teenagers and young adults resort to it to ridicule and insult others, and to arouse laughter without any regard for the privacy and feelings of others. This phenomenon has become familiar nowadays, and unfortunately, indications are that the generations of today have begun to imprint a pattern of mockery, which is mostly based on false news and events that many observers may believe.

Good initiatives to counter false news:

On the other hand, the good people in the world must stand up to the bad guys. In the past few years, many initiatives have emerged from proactive people, aiming to monitor this false news and warn people about it, and among these initiatives we mention the (Fatabyyano Anti-False News Platform), which is an independent Arab platform. 2014, a specialist in the field of information verification, aiming to filter Arabic content from false news. Which has become a reliable global site and a partner for major social media companies such as Facebook.

Also, some major TV channels have become interested in monitoring false news and warning viewers about it through special programs in this regard that are shown on a daily or weekly basis, or by allocating paragraphs within their news bulletins.
